The Castle Rock Township Board of Supervisors meeting was held on February 11, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 7 PM. The Sherriff's deputy attended the meeting and reported there were no major issues in the township. Mike Slavik attended the meeting and provided information on the Co. RD. 86 project. The revised schedule is Co. Rd. 86 will not reopen until spring. He also provided information on the HWY 3 and Co. Rd 86 round-about, they are still working on scheduling. The board reviewed and approved the building rights on a parcel of land. There was a presentation on the proposed Mork Wetland Bank. The board raised it's concern about the loss of tax revenue. There will be another presentation at a future Planning Commission meeting. The board a flat fee for the replacement of mailboxes damaged from snowplowing. A resolution was signed for IUP for a kitchen in the township. A planning commission member resignation was received and a new member and alternate member were approved. Two auto sales lots were approved. The board approved the use of the townhall for a resident organized candidate forum event. The board agreed to implement a new expense approval procedure and township policy manuals. Two complaint letters were discussed. There was a discussion about updates to the website. The board will be scheduling a CLOSED meeting to meet with the attorney and litigator over the OAA. The meeting was adjourned at approximatly 9:30PM.
A joint meeting between Castle Rock Township Board of Supervisors and Farmington City Council was held on January 30th 2025 at Farmington City Hall, at 4pm. Mayor Hoyt read a prepared statement, noting due to the pending lawsuit, Farmington was choosing not to engage in discussions. Castle Rock Attorney Andrew Tiede stated the township’s position outlining key areas of concern and their continued desire to engage with the city on the matter. Supervisor Nicolai added that the township has repeatedly tried to meet with the city over this issue with no response or ill response, or only to schedule meetings to then cancel them, and ended by asking "What can we accomplish here?". There was no response from Farmington. The meeting was adjourned at 4:04pm.
At the Castle Rock Planning Commission held a meeting on January 27, 2025. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM with the approval of the agenda with additions, and minutes from previous meetings were approved. A variance request for a long driveway was referred to the Board of Supervisors for clarification before proceeding with a public hearing. A Vice Chair was elected, and plans for a candidate forum in March were discussed. There was further discussion on the township becoming a city and Board approval will be sought to explore this further. During Public Comment there was an advisory discussion on a possible second driveway. Updates to the township ordinance were discussed, including additions to the fee schedule and definitions. A commission member’s resignation was accepted, and a new member was nominated to fill the vacancy.
The meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.
